On Tuesday the 17^th of January a press conference has been held at Prodrive. Together with Eneco and Quby, Prodrive developed ‘Toon’. Toon is a new kind of thermostat, which will make the consumer more aware of their energy consumption and costs.

To help make this conference a success they’ve turned Prodrive’s seminar room into a cozy living room setting. 

Several journalists of the NOS, Spits, BNR etc. were present at Prodrive when Eneco introduced Toon. 

Annemarie van Gaal (TV show Dubbeltje op zijn kant) was the first to receive this new novelty out of the hands of Hans Valk & Martijn Verbeek. Annemarie gives people advice on budgeting their expenses. She expects families to save up to 10% on their energy bills.

Besides consumption Toon also shows the costs of the electricity and gas. It gives insightful reports to avoid large payments on the annual energy statement. Toon is connected to the internet and compares the actual use with the estimated use. With simple graphs and bar charts it shows exactly how much gas and electricity currently is used.

After the press conference a guided tour was given, and the production line was shown. Prodrive is very proud of the joint development of this product. Due to automation of manufacturing and reducing the manufacturing labor by using smart concepts in design, Prodrive is able to keep the product costs low and compete against low-wage countries as Asia and therefor Toon will be produced in The Netherlands.
